Silver, turned into a superhero for schools
Metals for Humanity wanted to bring the role of metals in the health of the planet and its people into schools. Four minerals became superheroes; we gave shape and movement to silver.

Sound familiar?
If any of these lines sounds like you, this project is about you.
- You have to explain something technical to an audience that didn’t choose to listen.
- You want people to remember a character, not a lesson.
- Your project has several pieces, and each needs its own personality without breaking the series.
- And the message has to work in a classroom, with nobody beside it to explain.
That’s where Metals for Humanity came in.
A mineral with superpowers
Metals for Humanity (M4H) is an international social enterprise that wants metals and minerals to do more for the health of the planet and the wellbeing of people. To take that message into schools, it turned four minerals into superheroes: Héroes de la Tierra (“Earth Heroes”).
Isla Studio took silver: its graphic universe, the character design and the animation.
How we told it
Flat illustration in intense colours, with soft textures and single-colour backgrounds that change with each scene.

01 A background for every idea
Each scene has its own background colour and its own set. Here, amphorae with Greek-key patterns and a column drawn in line, in two reds.

02 A hero in a wrestler’s mask
Silver is a masked wrestler. In the fight, he pins a green three-eyed villain: good against evil, without a single word.

03 Same hero, different role
The character changes costume to suit the story: coat and stethoscope, on a violet blue. The silver mask keeps him recognisable in any scene.
