En Guardia’s new look, from the title sequence to the last map

Eight episodes about real cases, packed with dates, places and evidence. We designed the graphic style, the animation and the title sequence so that all of it is easy to follow.

En Guardia, season 3Title design and graphics for film, TV and streaming

Sound familiar?

If any of these sound like you, this project is about you.

  1. Your series tells real cases packed with dates, places and evidence, and viewers can’t afford to get lost.
  2. You’re launching a new season and want a fresh look that still feels like your series.
  3. You need the graphics to speak the same language in every episode.
  4. And the broadcast date isn’t moving.

That’s where En Guardia came in.

A new season, a new look

Fremantle Spain commissioned Isla Studio to create the new graphic concept, the animation and the new title sequence for season 3 of En Guardia, an eight-episode series about real cases.

Isla developed and designed all of the season’s graphics: name captions, timelines, forensic evidence, documents, maps and reconstructions. Each piece had to explain one fact of the case and, at the same time, belong to the same visual system across all eight episodes.

How we told it

Aged newsprint, sepia maps with yellow markers, evidence photos annotated in red and a condensed typeface for the captions.

  1. Image from the series: a newspaper crime page on aged paper, with a full-width headline about an investigation
    01

    Press from the time

Cases are placed in time by the crime pages that covered them: aged paper, full-width headlines and the newspaper’s photograph.

  2. Image from the series: a street map in sepia tones with a phone mast, the area it covers and a yellow dot placing a phone at a given time
    02

    Maps that explain an investigation

A mast, the area it covers and the spot where a phone was at a given time: what takes a page in a report is understood at a glance on screen.

  3. Image from the series: photograph of a door with a red circle around the lock and the caption “Zona forzamiento” (forced-entry area)
    03Zona forzamiento [Forced-entry area]

    Evidence that gets pointed out

On the evidence photograph, a red circle and caption mark the detail that matters, without covering the image.

  4. Image from the series: headline from a Galician newspaper over a house at night, with the paper torn along the top
    04

    From paper to scene

The torn headline is laid over the scene of the events: the clipping and the real image read at the same time.
